| STEWART HAYWARD #27 Latemodel & #1 Go-Kart
Stewart Hayward was born in Thunder Bay, ON Canada in 1973 and even before he could walk his parents started taking him to Riverview Raceways a local dirt track. As Stewart got older he pitted for Tom Nesbitt a veteran Late Model driver scraping mud, changing tires and filling the race car with fuel. He traveled with Tom to dirt tracks throughout the Midwestern USA, and during this time Stewart began to realize that one day he too would be a race car driver. At the age of 12 Hayward Racing Team (HRT) was formed when he bought his first Go-Kart and added his initial team members. The first few years were a huge learning experience, but it did not take long for him to gain respectful finishes and start winning championship seasons. To this day Stewart has won many championship titles throughout USA and Canada. Stewart moved to Calgary, AB Canada in the summer of 1998 to pursue his career as a certified automotive technician, and to continue his racing career.. In 1999 Stewart successfully started his own automotive servicing shop and in the past 5 years he has taken on a full time positions as Part Sales Technician at nationwide automotive parts retail store. Throughout his 20 years of racing he has come to realize that it is more than just a sport or hobby to him, it’s a life that he would give anything for, and not just that but he has a gift for driving. There is a passion and confidence that radiates off of him when he’s in the drivers seat and its amazing how he seems to forget everything else while he’s there. Stewarts motto is “I live, breathe, sleep racing….racing is my life, my number 1.” In the spring of 2004 HRT member Stewart was the sponsor representative for the Hobby Stock car class at Rocky Mountain Raceway Park (RMRP) a ¼ mile dirt racing oval. During this time Stewart raced an I.M.C.A. Modified and finished 3rd place overall for his first season, he also obtained a 2nd place season championship in the Go-Karting division; 2004 turned into his most successful racing season. Early 2005 HRT decided their next goal would be to get in to the Dirt Late Model class to fulfill a long time dream. HRT purchased a Late Model and in July 2005 Stewart took a month off to travel the racing circuit to see if they had what it takes to race in this elite division. They traveled to Wisconsin to get the Baxter engine put in the Late Model and get ready for racing, What an experience it was Stewart did really well he stayed on the track and with the pack, their goal was to come home knowing what they need for the future and to bring the car home in one piece and they accomplished that goal. "I wouldn't trade the experience for the world" he said and anytime you ask him why they did it he will always reply with a smile "we're living a dream!"
